Professor Maythem Saeed
Dr. Maythem Saeed received his PhD degree in 1983 and one-year fellowship at the Department of Applied Physiology, Freiburg University, West Germany, supervisor Eberhart Bassenge, MD, PhD. After his immigration to the USA in 1984, he worked at Huntington Memorial Institutes, Pasadena, California. In collaboration with Richard J. Bing, MD he studied the role of endothelial-derived relaxing factor in regulating coronary circulation. In 1988, he moved to the Department of Radiology, University of California San Francisco, where he did 2 years fellowship in MRI/MRS with Charles B. Higgins, MD. In 1990, he was appointed as Assistant Professor and on 1997 as a full Professor. His research is focused on the applications of MRI, MDCT and MR-guided interventions (such as local delivery of genes and ablation) as well as contrast media. Dr. Saeed has authored >220 peer reviewed publications, >30 reviews and >25 book chapters. He serves on editorial boards of several journals, such as Radiology-Associate Editor Cardiac Imaging, Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Journal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Contrast Media & Molecular Imaging, etc., United States
