Gregory Alan Day
Gregory Alan Day, PhD FRACS (ORTH) FAOrthA,Surgery of the Spine,Level 6 Professor, Specialist Medical Centre, Pacific Private Hospital, Southport.
He has authored 15 refereed publications and 3 chapters in current reference books pertaining to spine/pineal gland and more than 20 other publications. He has acted as a reviewer/advisor for the British Spine Society, Southern Medical Journal, the Medical Journal of Australia, the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Surgery and Journal of Orthopaedic Research. He is a current member of the Editorial Board for International Scholarly Research Notices - Orthopaedics. He was the first and only (to date) Australasian orthopaedic surgeon to be awarded a PhD at the University of Queensland. His previous prizes and awards included a full academic scholarship to the Church of England Grammar School (secondary education) and Commonwealth scholarship to the University of Queensland (medical faculty). He has been a tutor for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons basic surgical procedures workshops and was the Queensland convenor for the Australian Orthopaedic Association’s undergraduate workshops. Gregory Day pioneered new services at the Royal Brisbane Hospital including the Ortho-Geriatric Unit (rehabilitation service) and the Spine Service. His team was awarded the Queensland Health New Services Initiative Plaque in 1997.
