On the day of the bid the estate agents confirmed the other party had placed their bid (this is confirmed on email) and so we did the same. Emails can be opened, read and marked as unread before the allotted time, and another buyer informed of the contents by the agent. Can anyone tell me if a sealed bid is legally binding. Sealed bids doesnt usually mean the highest price is excepted if it isnt a probate sale. Chances are once the highest bid is 'accepted' (joke), it will have to be advertised in the local paper for 7 days, requesting higher bids.
