Team Vacation Calendar AY Calendars

One of the biggest challenges so far has been a master calendar that shows who is available when for capacity planning / work scheduling etc. This might be a cool feature to have a vacation status where it just makes sure that you go through all these steps though. I am trying to create a vacation approval flow on sharepoint online and i would like your thoughts. I don't think i should have to add someone to a group for them. I could create a channel calendar in teams but that's certainly not appropriate.
