Abstract

Haemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) is the most common cause of childhood acute kidney injury (AKI) [1-4]. HUS is defined by the triad of non-immune haemolytic anaemia (hemoglobin < 10 g/dL) with schistocytes, thrombocytopenia (platelets < 150x103/mm3) and renal impairment (serum creatinine > upper limit of normal for age) [5].
